In May 2019, the Legislature passed a new Minnesota Wage Theft Prevention Act to create additional protections for workers, including adding criminal penalties for employers that commit wage theft, which occurs when employers do not pay their workers what is owed them for the work they have performed. All employers must provide each employee with a written notice at the start of their employment and keep a signed copy of the notice on file, as of July 1, 2019.
To understand what the Minnesota Wage Theft Prevention Act means to your business, a representative from the State of MN Department of Labor and Industries will give a presentation on Friday, November 22. Open to all area businesses.
